Mouse filmed tidying up man's shed every night

After consistently discovering that items left unattended the night before were mysteriously organized, he decided to take action. Setting up a night vision camera on his workbench, he was able to capture footage of a mouse diligently arranging clothes pegs, corks, nuts, and bolts.

This diligent rodent has earned the affectionate name "Welsh Tidy Mouse" from the 75-year-old resident of Builth Wells, Powys. The nightly tidying ritual has persisted for two months, leaving the man fascinated by the mouse's organizational skills.

The discovery began when he noticed food intended for birds was making its way into a pair of old shoes stored in the shed. The mouse, however, had a preference for tidiness.

"99 times out of 100, the mouse will tidy up throughout the night, It is incredible really that it puts them all back in the box. I think it's possible that the mouse enjoys it."

Mr. Holbrook, speculates that the mouse is using the objects to conceal nuts. Surprisingly, this arrangement has worked in his favor, as he no longer feels the need to tidy up himself.

"I don't bother to tidy up now; I leave things out of the box, and the mouse puts it back in its place by the morning," he explained, adding humorously, "I think he would tidy my wife away if I left her in there."

Describing it as a bit of an experiment, Mr. Holbrook has been testing the mouse's capabilities by adding different items to the desk to see if the industrious rodent can lift them.

This isn't the first encounter Mr. Holbrook has had with an organized rodent. In 2019, while living in Bristol, a friend sought his help to set up a night camera when another mouse was found maintaining order in their shed.

"That one video went viral and reached people around the world," he recalled. "So I can't believe here in Builth Wells we have had the same thing happen years later."
